Samsung Genio QWERTY Overview
The announcement of the Genio QWERTY revealed to the public a sleek looking Samsung device that sported a full QWERTY keyboard on the front. This GSM device is focused mainly on messaging and it does a pretty good job; though some people do complain that the keys tend to give trouble for really thick fingers. Still, the phone does a good job at what it is supposed to do best, writing and sending messages. Too bad that unlike BlackBerry devices (which are also messaging based), the functionality of the Genio QWERTY is not as broad; making phone seemingly end up as being a cheap BlackBerry alternative.
Specifications
This little candy phone has the dimensions of 110 x 59 x 12.9 mm, it is slim enough to carry around, but since it does not have a slide out keyboard, Samsung could have probably squeezed this phone in a little tighter. At least it only weighs 94 grams, with the battery.
Samsung Genio QWERTY reviews point out that the interchangeable covers are pretty good – allowing users to change the overall design and color of the device just by a quick casing swap; perfect for anyone who wants a phone to truly match their style or mood.
The big catch with this phone is that it lacks 3G and WiFi capabilities, which severely limits the user to some of the usual features found in other devices. EDGE connectivity is supported but compared to 3G, all the other options are much too slow.
The 2.2 inch TFT display does a good job of handling all the graphic requirements of the device (which is not much), and it plays videos decently. Media wise, this phone will be doing more music playing than anything else, either through MP3, AAC, or WMA playback, or though the FM radio function.
Where to Get
