Samsung’s Earth Friendly “Blue Earth”
Now here is a mobile phone truly worth talking about; it’s the Blue Earth mobile phone from Samsung. The mobile phone manufacturer apparently has a bit of time on their hands now that they have released their Linux devices and Omnia series. While other companies have been busy with the Android phones (a good investment too), Samsung has focused on creating a mobile phone with a little more social and more importantly, ecological sense.
The Blue Earth is announced to be the most eco friendly mobile phone in terms of both hardware and manufacturing. Personally, I think this device should be setting a new standard for all electronic devices. Anything that will cut down on carbon emission definitely deserves two-thumbs up.
Samsung has not fleshed out the full details on how this device is actually manufactured; but according to Samsung’s statements regarding the Blue Earth, the device will be using recycled materials. The coolest feature of this mobile phone is its solar powered battery, that when exposed to sunlight for 14 hours, will generate enough electricity for four hours of continuous talk time. The solar panels cover almost the entirety of the mobile devices back, allotting some space on top for the 3.2 mega pixel camera. If you think that’s a pretty good camera for an eco-phone, that’s because we have forgotten to mention that the Blue Earth is a smart phone.
This eco friendly, solar powered mobile phone will have a 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen, WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS and FM radio capabilities, just to name a few. The real question is, how much will this phone cost? As with hybrid car technology, we can expect to pay a hefty price for this device when it comes out. Still, I am all for promoting this phone; Samsung will certainly try to give us a good deal for this, besides, there is no price too great for saving our environment.
